Montana Western Scholarship Established in Memory of Sarah Pelletier

Beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year, the Sarah Pelletier Special Education Scholarship will award two, $2,000 scholarships annually to full-time students at Montana Western.

Despite the challenges she faced, Sarah exemplified a life of joy, resilience, and adventure. Known for her infectious positivity and zest for life, Sarah embraced every day as an opportunity to explore, learn, and make lasting memories. Her unwavering enthusiasm for life inspires this scholarship to support students who share her passion for making a difference in the lives of others.

Her father, Lee Pelletier, said “Sarah loved school and all of her teachers, especially her Special Education teachers. Dianne and I are hoping this scholarship will help future teachers make a difference.”

Eligible candidates for the scholarship must be full-time students enrolled and in good standing at Montana Western, pursuing a major in Education with a minor in Special Education. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.8 to qualify, and recipients are eligible to receive the scholarship for multiple years.

Recipients will be selected annually by the UMW Scholarship Committee. The scholarship aims to empower aspiring educators who are passionate about Special Education and committed to fostering inclusive learning environments.

Students attending or planning to attend Montana Western in fall 2025 can apply for the Sarah Pelletier Special Education Scholarship at umwfoundation.awardspring.com. Priority deadline to apply is February 1, 2025.

“We are so honored to announce this scholarship in memory of Sarah. It is a fitting tribute to someone who had an impact on the many lives she touched,” said UMW Foundation Executive Director, Roxanne Engellant.
