“We are excited to welcome Tia to the University of Montana Western as she begins her new role,” said UMW Chancellor Michael Reid. “Due to her extensive experience in higher education and accreditation and having served as both a faculty member and as a budget and operations manager, her knowledge and experience will be a great asset for Montana Western.”
Originally from Shawnee, Kansas, Brown earned a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in business in 1992 from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2000.
Brown is currently serving at Montana State University as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Assurance of Learning in the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship, a role she has held since 2019. She is also currently serving as Director of the Community Banking Program and was the College’s Director of Operations from 2015-19. Prior to her work at MSU, Brown served in several roles at Helena College from 2012-15 including Instructor of Accounting and Business, Dual Credit Coordinator, and Division Chair of General Education and Transfer. From 2010-11 at Eastern Oklahoma State College, she served as Chair of the Division of Business.
“I am equally honored and thrilled to be joining Montana Western as the new Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. Dillon has long been one of the most visited and enjoyed locations in Montana for my husband and me. The opportunity to be a part of the leadership team guiding Montana Western into the future is truly a dream come true. I’m going to give everything I’ve got in helping the university continue to be a wonderful place for our students and community,” said Brown. “When I’m not working, you may see me trail running with my yellow lab, Ocho, or guiding my kayak or paddleboard around the reservoir.”
Brown will begin her new position at the University of Montana Western on February 5, 2024.
